DETAILS

During the closing event of the project 'Connecting dissimilar materials', several inspiring cases will be presented.

Sirris, Agoria, BIL and Flanders Make have worked together over the past years to present the technologies that are available to connect different materials to a wide range of construction companies. Depending on the application, we have introduced companies to welding, gluing, mechanical joining or combinations of these methods.

Some nice examples will be discussed during this information afternoon. This will show that very different materials can be connected to mechanical connecting means, but also mutually different metals can be thermally connected by, for example, soldering. Gluing is also being used more and more for structural connections.

Program

13.30: Reception with coffee

13.50: Welcome (Bart Teerlinck, Sirris)

14.00: Creating a high-quality reusable threaded connection

composite and wood (Thierry Soenen, Juno Industries)

14.25: Use of various glue techniques in a transport case made of composite and

an example of structural glue in machine building (Simon Buyse, 3M)

14.50: Bonding system for fixing façade panels from various materials

on both wooden and aluminum supporting constructions (Bram Starckx, Novatio)

15.15: Pause

15.45: Ultrasonic welding of various non-ferrous metals: recent applications in

the series production of batteries and in the electrical contacts of electric

           cars (Christophe Cuigniez, Alpha)

16.10: Connecting dissimilar materials such as copper, brass and stainless steel

with the flame (Luc Persoons, Castolin Benelux)

16.35: Quantitative, qualitative and applied aspects of laser cladding: state-of-the-art,

features and typical cases (Jan Lambrecht, Laser Cladding Venture)

17.00: Network reception

During the break and after the event, participating companies will have the opportunity to view their own examples. There will also be a fair with information from the speakers.
